Lady of the World, Goddess of the Sea, Mistress of Corsairs, The Bitch of Chaos

Aernus is the goddess of the sea and the daughter of Azahak and Gishra. She is an odious god with highly chaotic tendencies. Aernus is more fickle than even Akiri and is often very violent. She adores those that live and use the oceans and seas as their home, but they all understand the nature of the Sea Mistress, and never do anything to anger her. She can be a fickle deity from a calm and serene goddess to a raging monster of chaos.

Her wraith is felt through the forces of typhoons, hurricanes and the tsunami. She is easily pleased, but quick to anger. No ship sails before giving homage to this goddess, those that have not or have defied this goddess often find watery graves as their final destination.

Dogma

The sea is a cold, savage place that challenges even the most hardy of sailors. Those that wish to embark upon a voyage across its dark waters must be willing to face its brutality even though they are likely to enjoy its beauty. Those that do not respect the sea are to be slain.

Gracious offerings by a priest of Aernus before a voyage will calm the Sea Queen. Teach respect and fear for the winds and the waters that make up the world of the sea.

Tenets

According to the Laws of the Sea, Aernus is a goddess that is difficult to predict in her action and how she judges her followers and priests. In an attempt to assist her loyal followers Aernus struck a bargain with her followers that resulted in what are known as the Covenant of the Sea.

1) Blessed are those that show fear and respect to the might sea.

2) It is a sin to call upon other deities while upon her waters

3) Battle upon her waters must be fast, furious and bloody.

4) It is a sin no to give praise for a safe arrival.
