Baronies of Vishraan

The Accursed Lands as they are often referred to are lands that have fallen into the dark hold of Azahak. It has been this way since the creation of the world, when Elal and Azahak fought for control of the world and the Omniverse. Azahak’s first attack was to seize the lands that are now called the Baronies of Vishraan (The Lands of Death). Through his corrupting powers these lands began to fester and die. It was an attack that Elal had not counted on and was caught off guard as Azahak opened up his Plane of Darkness (Neter-Kheret, the planar prime of evil) upon the shores of Vladac outpouring his armies of demons that ravaged and raped the land, destroying all life that they come upon.
Elal, unprepared for the Dark Lord to unleash the hells of Neter-Kheret upon the world, was taken aback, as quickly as the Lord of Creation could he created race after race to battle the onslaught, the remnant of these creations can be found in the people that have been trapped in the Baronies ever since.
The world was facing absolute domination by the Dark Lord and his minions. Had it not been for the Great Mother, Gishra, surely the world would have become more like the Accursed Lands. Gathering together her own heavenly host and strength she brought forth the high mountains that now surround the Baronies, separating the rest of the world from the dark lands. In doing so, legend holds that Gishra had to give up her place in the heavens to become Prima Terra deity, whose home is the world of Kralis, and the one true god that can be destroyed in this plane.
Despite Gishra’s noble sacrifice, there still remains a large section of the mountains the evil from these lands pours out into the rest of Ta Los. There is a continual struggle between the forces of Gishra, Elal and Azahak to take control of this mountainous pass.
The majority of people that live within the realms are a hard, untrusting people. That go about their daily lives looking over their shoulders. When the night rises, towns seem to become deserted, only the light of candles can be seen in the windows, fluttering behind closed wooden shutters. Cities close and lock their gates and villages light huge fires around themselves, all in an attempt to keep back the dark and those things that still lurk in the dark hunting down souls.
The Baronies, once ruled by mortal men now become ruled by undead creatures, demons and other unspeakable horrors that should not exist in this world. There are six baronies: Marchosias, Agares, Eligos, Vladac, Volak and Phryxis. The U-Shaped mountain range, known as the Baligrog Mountains divide the rest of the world from the Baronies.
