Dardura Southern District
From World of Kralis
The Southern District is the first district seen by visitors that arrive by way of the Southgate on the Long Road. Much of the traffic is that of caravans arriving from the far south and the lands of Rinsha Asynshra and Ahamkara. Most of the businesses and trade caters to the caravans it has a great number of taverns and inns than the rest of the city. Travelers that come in from other gates are often busied along to the Southern District, those that call themselves adventurers are hurried there the most. It has a great many warehouses, stables and sheds that are used to store goods and other necessities brought in by those on the road. A great deal of the common and poorer folk call the Southern District home. It has also poured out past the the Crown into the surrounding area and has created what is mostly commonly referred to as the Shanty.
It is the most welcoming of all the districts despite its grimy and dusty appearance. Most vendors are kind if not shrewd with most of their business taking place in the streets as most sell from the back of a cart or from small stalls that line the walls of the buildings. The inns and taverns are always full and always are they catering to the merchant-traders and visitors needs and wants. It is a very busy district, buzzing with noise.
There is a very strong watch presence here which lends to a sense of relative security and safety. But, the Southern District is well known for its crime, thieves and dark guilds. The Southern District is the ordinary commoners side of the city, it wields little political power despite the fact that it generates nearly fifty percent of the total wealth of the city. The main Streets of the District are the Long Road and Telsha's Street which runs east to west from The Sword Promenade to Kanas' Way. It is border on the east by Kanas' Way and on the east by The Sword, the north is bound by a combination of the Way of the Sun and a number of alley's and streets: Ambrah's Way, Beltak's Way, Jutar's Walk, Zurcar's Road and Halturian Street.
Unlike most of the rest of the city, the Southern District always seems to be remolding itself. Because of this continual alteration in its landscape, the Southern Districts primary building, while tall, are made from old stone, mud brick, and timber. It is also the most crowded of the districts. Crammed in among the various warehouses are three and four story homes. There are few parks, trees and bushes, there is an ever present linger of dust just above the ground. The streets seem to always seem to be full of mud, which is carried in by the many caravans that call Dardura Sheva port. Through out the district the rumbling sound of cart wheel against stone, there is a constant odor of work animal and pens the seep into everything in the district.
Temples and Churches
The Conventicle of Healing, a rather grandiose temple dedicated to the Lord of the Plains and God of Healing Daemah. It is from this temple that most of the city's healers come from.
