Dardura Trade District
From World of Kralis
The Trades District as a very distinct separation from the rest of the city. Unlike the rest of the city there is a strong neighborhood feel amongst all the guilds here. Like the Southern District it is constantly busy from the commercial work that takes place within the district. There is a constant buzz echoing through out this part of the city as the workshops go about their daily schedule of production. Most of the district is active well into the night which requires excessive street lighting. This need keeps the Lampwrights extremely busy, which keeps multiple night shifts to ensure that the streetlamps are always lit. There is also another distinction that separates the Trades District from the rest of the city, there is a linger foul odor of rotten eggs and tanning skins.
Despite the unintended smells of the commercial work, the district itself is kept clean and debris free. There is a fine layer of dust that clings to the ground where the Southern and Trade Districts meet, but for the most part this is kept down by the constant work of flurry of activity within the district.
While there is a great deal of activity within the district that helps deter criminal behavior, especially at night, there is a large force of watch that frequently patrols the district. While this helps in deterring the amount of crime that takes place within the district, many of the guild hold "political" persuasion with the unsavory elements within the city that helps keep criminal activity to a minimum.
The district is defined by the city walls to the southwest, and Daminar's Street that runs in a curving manner from the WestGate southwest to the SouthGate. It is further defined by the numerous smaller streets that make up the boundaries between the West and South Districts: Pepper Street, Blood Avenue, Sestra's Street, Green Alley, Fluriyan Street, and Tir's Street.
Like most of the city the Trade District is made up of the stone from the quarry. The buildings are built for endurance as many of them also act as storage or warehouses for the various guilds and their products. Most of the buildings are three and four story constructions with a number of them being 5 and even 6 stories. The streets are always full, busy with messengers, carters and apprentices running for this or that. The ancient cobblestone streets are worn from the heavy foot traffic.
