Dardura Western District
From World of Kralis
Known also as the Diamond District, the Western District is famous for its glistening white stone. Unlike most of the rest of the city that is veiled in the white stone with green streaks, nearly all the stone in the district is alabaster white. This is because when the first stones where harvested from the quarry they were completely white and the Western District is the oldest part of the city. It is also home to the four Gates of Kralis that are so often used by travelers from distant lands.
The Western District is home to many wealthier middle class individuals, well-to-do merchants and lesser nobles of the city. It is also home to the Mages Guild known as the White Tower, the Library of Fendora, and the Halls of Ancestors. While it has a portion of the Trade District in it, it maintains something of an aloof air with neighboring district, the streets that it shares with Trades district are home to the stables and such of the lesser nobles and their households. Even then this area is kept very clean by the numerous houseboys and stable boys.
The district is dominated by residences which tend toward walled villas, individual and distinct homes built of stone. There are lavish gardens, green parks and many trees line the streets and the spaces between the various homes. The district is not as packed as the Southern, Trade and Eastern Districts. There are a few shops that deal with exotic and unique items that generally cost a but more than the normal citizen can afford.
The watch keep this district under tight control, rousting out those that cause too much trouble more than a noisy disruption. Those entering the district must declare their presence to the watch that guard the various entrance points into the district. The main streets through and into the district are the Way of the Sun Promenade, Sestra's Street, Green Alley (which it shares with the Trade District. In addition, it is further defined by Kanas' Way to the north, the City Wall to the west and The Sword to the south.
The architecture here is dominated by the various villas, distinct homes and parks. Unlike most of the rest of the city, there are no rows of buildings. It is dominated by private walls, wrought iron fences, towers, gabled roofs, and ornate statues. All the streets of this district are built from large white stones that further enhance the nickname the Diamond District.
