Located in the northwest along the border of Alisanos and Ji-Lak grows the forest of Maar. It is a thick forest of oak, evergreens and birch trees. It is dark and often filled with a light, low fog that seems to rise up from the ground itself. The Forest of Maar has always been a haven for monsters fleeing the cold winds that blow off the black ice of Iztalik.

But as much as it has become a home for monsters, it has also become holy hunting ground for the jakara of Ji-Lak. With the thickness of the wood, and the abundance of underbrush the jakara find this forest to be a soothing home. While monsters are in abundance here, there is a great amount of wild life from red deer and wild buffalo to grey jackrabbits and pheasants.

The wood is home to an ancient fire dragon named Arellgarloxantha. This ancient beast spends most of its time asleep deep within the forest, within a very deep hole known as the Well. The dragon is known to wake from its ancient slumber occasionally and raid the towns of Alisanos, and the villages of Ji-Lak.
