Sitting on the border of the Vast and the last edge of Storhet, the Great Northern Forest, the Black Gate, the town of Gunaithus watches over the great white plains of the Vast.

It is a large city, made up of various folks from all around the region. Including a few from the nomadic barbarians of the Vast, that make their seasonal home at the base of the city’s large wall.

The Black Gate sits on the fringes of the Kingdom of Panthias, it is a free-city, that strongly pushes trade. It is however, a town filled with many unscrupulous individuals. With the major religion being that of Mala, the city is not a friendly one, nor is it particularly loyal to the capital.

There have been a number of uprisings through out its existance, many started by the gangs, crimelords and the black market that exists here, each subquently put down by Kingdom Riders. Slavery, while taboo in the Kingdom, is alive and doing well in this city. There is a strong market for all sorts of illegal things in the city.

However, despite its long dark history, the Black Gate is the last bit of true civilization travellers will find as they enter the Vast and begin heading north into colder, dark and less civilized lands.
