Situated in the waters of the Blood Sea are the Islands of Cuthia, the nation of gnomes. It is a chain of seven islands linked by underground tunnels that provide rapid transportation from one island to another island via the Hurijan (The White Rail), as gnomes and other visitors are whisked about at incredible speeds to stop at housing stations where travelers embark and disembark on the various Hurijan cars.

Curiat, the largest island, is filled with gnomes and is thousands of years old and is the most technological developed and advanced gnomish community through out Ta Los. The grand city of Lusk is the capital of the gnome nation and is centered on the island over a vast cavern system that extends the city downward deep within the DeepEarth Realms.

Like most other gnome cities, Lusk, is a place of frantic activity and nonstop noise. Wherever one looks gnomes and their mechanical contraptions are moving from one place to another. There are squads of gnomes hustling around broken down Arabeitz (gnomish for Clockwork) attempting to fix them where the stand or fleeing from one as it goes haywire destroying buildings or blowing itself up in the middle of the street.

Each island has its own form of government that is made up of various councils that are always embroiled in some bizarre topic, many of which have to do with whether or not a new gizmo, gadget, construct or invention is to dangerous for non-gnomes.

There are hundreds of guilds each organized around a particular interest: Guild of Mechanical Gears, Guild of Science, Guild of Magic, Guild of Agriculture, Guild of Healing, Guild of Steam, etc. Most gnomes are a part of numerous guilds.
