Since the beginning of known history the lands that make up Talica have been in the hands of giants. After the fall of the Kingdom of Athigurian in 10,489 B.F.A. the various giant clans that made up the kingdom dispersed through out the world. Many giant clans went far to the north joining their cousins that had established the powerful giant kingdom of Jotunar. Others spread to various hidden valleys through out the world. A number of the clans went to the north western lands just on the edge of Iztalik and founded the realm of Galturik in 9,450 B.F.A. and subjugated the various human fishing villages, and plains barbarians under their control.

At some point in time after this the clans of the giants that ruled the realm began to disappear or vanish. This occurrence is unexplained, many believe that the giants began to migrate into Iztalik as well as through out the north. With the disappearance of the of so many clans, the fishing villages and the barbarians of this northern plain began to retake the lands.

From this arose a land of lawless brigands and quarreling chiefs. The people of this land are a strong willed lot, that have so far thrown off any attempts to form a government. Unlike the barbarians of Ceithlenn, this group of people are wholly wild and rebellious that often fight amongst themselves as well as waging war against Solthania and the States of Kraz Nal Tyr.

There have been a few strong chiefs that have risen to gather their tribe and that of a few others to form a small barony here and there. These baronies often become the victims of the various lawless brigands and warlords that surround them and the fall apart until another great leader or powerful warlord unites the tribes.

As a land it is very much like most of the lands that border the Iztalik. It is a region of cold winds, harsh weather and unstable storms. Its location on the Cold Bay and bordering the black ice of Iztalik guarantees harsh, snow filled winters, and cool, foggy summers. Summers are short and winters are long as the storms that come off the Cold Bay and down from Iztalik insure this.

Most of the land is a flat, featureless realm that is dominated by a single large river called the Iron Snake, a very deep and cold river. For most of the year it is under several feet of ice, but during the summer it is often a very busy place as trading ships from the lower Western Realms, and further south, make their way up and around the Horn of Kraz and into the Cold Bay. Other than the northern end of the Minthriath Mountains rising from the plains, there is little else through out the lands. There are the occasional copse of thick trees of pines, spruces, fir and hemlocks dotting the area here and there.

There is a wide range of animals from the massive herds of caribou and wolf packs to the various rabbits, foxes and other mundane creatures that call this harsh land home. The largest, most ferocious animal that lives in these realms are the war bear that haunt the dense copses of trees and very rarely venture out of these areas other than to scare away wolf packs from a fresh kill.

Monsters are very common through out the lands. Hordes of albs, broodlings, kangras, and kurnacks are frequently encountered by the tribes of the land. There are also a number of giant clans that still feel that the land is their territory and often wage war on one or two tribes at the same time.

There are very few towns in the realm, those that do exist do so along the shores of the Cold Bay and along the Iron Snake River. However, established along the western slopes of Minthirath Mountains the city of Hanith Syr Dran has successfully warded of attacks by warlords, hordes of monsters and many attempts by giant clans to take the city.
