There are many dark places in Kralis and each is unique to its region, there are the DeepEarth realms established by demons (the City of Iron, Dreach, Lurikith), there are dark nations of Fir Darrig and there are ancient ruins of power built long ago. In the northern regions of Kralis, where the cold winds and harsh weather are without reprisal, there exists dark places of foul deeds. Castle Du Mac is counted among these places.

Castle Du Mac is a dark and dreadful stronghold that is located in the central mountains of Iron Hills hidden in the dark, rocky heights of the mountains. The whole of the castle sits high above the Plain of the White Worm on a plateau. While the castle proper has been destroyed and lies in ruin, the power of the castle laid in the underdark descending far below the plateau floor. The castle was originally built over a very deep pit, that was once an ancient volcano in Iron Hills during the Time of Contact.

This deep pit extends just over two miles deep and ends in the Black Lake deep within the DeepEarth Realms. It is from this foul place that many creatures, both mortal and otherworldly, issue forth to plague the lands of Alisanos. A wide and crumbling staircase made from ebony stone spirals down the sides of the pit into the depths of the castle ruins. There are 7 sections to this underdark realm of the castle. The central and primary section of the castle consists of Upper Halls, Middle Halls and Lower Halls. These three sections contain 3 levels each and are comprised of many tunnels, chambers and rooms that were once used by the Necromancer's dark army.

The middle half of the castle's underdark is made up of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Sanctums and consist of 2 levels each. The lower half of the underdark is the lowest and most heinous of Du Mac, "The Dark Halls". All told these 15 levels of the underdark hold hundreds of tunnels, corridors and several thousand chambers. The whole of the underdark is filled with disgusting odors and mounds of rotting filth. Very few brave souls have every attempted to learn the dark secrets of the Necromancer or even determined that the Necromancer was ever actually dealt with on a permanent nature.

It is a place filled with hundreds of traps, thousands of dangers and home to things best left in the dark and forgotten about.
