Talk:Solthania
From World of Kralis
While Solthania was established in 1,285 B.F.A., its true origins begins with Solthan during the Horde Wars. He was the commander of the armies that turned against the encroaching hordes of the Empire of Patach, which ruled over the region where Solthania would be established. It was through his leadership and cunning strategies that his armies were able to drive the hordes back through the region and take the capital of Kalta and smashing the horde against the Curtia Mountains.
After the Horde Wars, and following his death, Solthan's "The Way" became the standard reading amongst monks, sages and the rising soldier class. Many mercenary groups developed and used the Way as the standard by which to wage war against hordes of monsters. Unfortunately, a number of these mercenaries used "The Way" for evil means, waging battles against the various villages spread through out the growing region. For many decades battles erupted though out the region as groups clashed with each other. During this time new hordes of orcs, ogres, goblins, and giants slowly began to rise in the east in the foothills of the Curtia Mountains.
In 1,285 B.F.A. during a major conflict with great horde of monsters near the ancient ruins of Kalta, several mercenary groups and a small contingent of men lead by Khulthar Ashur, found themselves surrounded. Outnumber and embattled with winter storms, Khulthar prayed to the gods of Good for help against the horde. For several days, Khulthar continued to fast and pray. Upon his 9th day of prayer and fasting, Elal the All Father appeared before Khulthar. Elal instructed Khulthar on the creation of the Knights of Elal and based upon the ideals put forth by Solthan in "The Way". Elal promised that if Khulthar established the Knights that he would be successful in his defeating the surrounding horde. These Knights would unite the entire region and establish the realm known as Solthania.
Elated with spiritual power of Elal, Khulthar gathered his closest advisers and planned the creation of the Knights of Elal. By the spring thaw, armed with the faith of Elal, The Way, hardened warrior-knights and armed with newly forged swords, shields and armor, the Knights of Elal arose out of the ruins of Kalta and within days scattered the surrounding horde. Khulthar rebuilt the ruins of Kalta, and renamed the city Solcrist.
